Therefore, Carrington insider Sully reveals that although no official decision has been communicated just yet, Man Utd have internally decided to move forward with Carrick.

“The expectation is for MUFC to offer Michael Carrick the permanent head coach role for next season,” posted Sully on his X (formerly Twitter)account on Monday night.

Why confirming Carrick is the best call for Man United

While we still await official confirmation, the news has been in the air for quite some time, with all indications pointing towards the former England international.

The lack of available top-notch profiles has boosted Carrick’s chances, as the likes of Carlo Ancelotti (Brazil), Thomas Tuchel (England), and Luis Enrique (PSG) are all planning to prolong their current spells.

Nevertheless, the former United midfielder has certainly done his part, whether by producing solid results and improved performances, keeping his head down and saying the right things, or immersing himself in the club’s academy project and emphasising the importance of homebred players at United.
