Manchester United were among a number of clubs considering taking Real Madrid wantaway Endrick on board in January.

The young starlet’s reduced role under Xabi Alonso this season has prompted him to explore alternative options in the winter, with Madrid ready to sign off on a temporary exit.

After missing the opening matches of the season through a thigh injury, Endrick returned to full fitness in September in hopes of playing a part in Alonso’s plans.

However, he has since been utilised only once, making an 11-minute cameo off the bench in a 4-0 win over Valencia on Saturday. Prior to that, he had been an unused substitute for six La Liga matches and two Champions League outings.

United were among Endrick’s suitors back in 2022, as were Chelsea, but the then-16-year-old favoured a move from boyhood club Palmeiras to the European giants.

Since learning of his uncertain situation at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent weeks, the Red Devils and Aston Villa have been touted as potential options for the attacker to ply his trade in a new environment.

Now, according to a report from ESPN Brazil, both English sides ended their interest after learning that Madrid had no plans to include any buy option in the loan agreement, meaning they’d only have him on the books for six months before he returned to Spain, where he’s tied down to a contract until 2030.

Endrick, hailed as a ‘spectacular’ talent by ex-Madrid manager and current Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti, has since green-lit a switch to Olympique Lyonnais, who sit sixth-placed in Ligue 1 and are in the Europa League this term.
