Amad has made clear he is looking forward to working with Marcus Rashford again once Manchester United’s returning World Cup players regroup in Dublin, with Rashford set to rejoin his teammates for the first time since January 2025.
Rashford, 28, is scheduled to arrive in Dublin on Sunday having completed his mandatory three-week post-World Cup break, according to The Sun. Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez are also expected to report at the same time, following their presence in the United States three weeks earlier.
It will be Rashford’s first session with the group since separate loan spells at Aston Villa and then Barcelona took him away from Old Trafford. Barcelona opted against triggering their £26million option to sign him permanently, instead moving for Anthony Gordon in a £69million deal, and his £325,000-a-week salary has effectively blocked any permanent exit elsewhere.

Rashford is under contract until 2028, and United sources have repeatedly stressed he will not be allowed to leave on another season-long loan. That leaves both parties needing to make the reunion work, even after Rashford publicly declared his wish to join Barcelona permanently and reiterated his desire to leave Manchester United permanently during the World Cup.
Michael Carrick, Ruben Amorim’s replacement in January, has stabilised the club since taking over. Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were part of a five-man group that trained separately from the main squad under Amorim last summer. Rashford’s expected return to the Dublin squad has been framed as a genuine test of the dynamic.
Amad’s welcome for the returning trioSpeaking to MUTV after United’s 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain, as relayed by The Peoples Person, Amad described the return of players to the group as exciting. He said Rashford, Martinez and Mainoo were due to return in Dublin, where United would have the rest of the squad together ahead of the new campaign.
Amad’s comments underline the importance of bringing the squad together during the camp. United were due to head to Dublin for the training camp, with Rashford, Martinez and Mainoo expected to rejoin the group there ahead of the AC Milan friendly.
